Medinformatics: More bucks for games than health

```The technology industry spent more money and time improving first-person shooter games than the outcome in the emergency room,' [said Louis Burns, who manages Intel's Digital Health Group]. `Think about that for a second. What we're really trying to do is get our industry focused on health care issues. We think there is a very big growth opportunity for our industry. We're not doing it just to feel good about it. You have to be patient and listen to understand the issues, but we think the opportunity is huge.'''
So, how much larger is the video game industry than the fields of bioinformatics and medinformatics? I suppose it's human nature that we'd want to spend more time and money on things that entertain us, and maybe that will be to our detriment. But it's hard to imagine a world where everyone would spend their free time ``having fun playing'' with DNA sequences. So, is bioinformatics too complex to be fun? Are all bioinformatic problems more challenging than all video games? Are the solutions less rewarding?
