I've got some 1 GHz/256k and some Tualatins 1.4 GHz/512k. At the time I purchased dual 1GHz's they cost the same like 1.4 GHz Tualatins now. These are all PE 1550's. It was about 2,500.00 a node. 2 CPU's, dual EEPro 100, 1 73 GB Seagate Cheetah 10k U3 SCSI. You're right. I was thinking about 175K for 64 duals + 2 racks (5-10K) + a couple of switches (3-4K). So yeah, there would be good chunk of money left :) > Hi Goran, > > I perfectly agree with all ... except: > > Goran Ceric <goran@genetics.wustl.edu> wrote on Wed, 17 Apr 2002: > >> For $256K, you can get yourself ~128-cpu (64 dual PIII, 1U) cluster + >> networking + rack + everything else, > > Haven't you lost a factor of 2?
