[Bioclusters] info needed about network filesystem to use in cluster programming

hi all!
             In cluster programming, for sharing the files we can use
nfs. But nfs  performance is not that interesting. So, can any body
suggest a open source file system for use. I want to read database
fragments from nfs mounted  file by all the slaves. So, I need a good
netwrok file system
