Hi,

I run BLAST very confortably on my 600MHz iBook for teaching. I used
instructions that are found here:

http://www.tc.umn.edu/~cann0010/Bioperl_OSX_install.html

Look for the BLAST section. I prefer to build my apps from source so these
instructions were perfect.
