Let me clarify something.  Although DMs/DTs will allow for pluggability and data
format independence for the DATA TO BE PROCESSED, we will still have ONE data
format for the very basic operations (infrastructure) of Loci (e.g., GUIs) and
ONE database (or other type of program) for managing this.  Since our
infrastructure data will be in XML, we are looking for an XML database.  You may
have noticed some messages posted to the list about XML databases.  Justin
mentioned he was considering making one if we did not find one compatible with
the LGPL license.
