This is in full release with good documentation and may be more useful
for
object -> XML -> relational 
type mapping.   I can't seem to find any C-based packages that do the
same, but some of the stuff on http://xml.apache.org/ looks like maybe
it would be useful.  Or maybe a hack based on James Clark's really fast
and light parsers.  Who knows, it's not my arena, really.
