To avoid being a jerk who suggests things and has no idea how to 
implement them, I checked the cvs book Jeff suggested a while ago on 
the list (http://cvsbook.red-bean.com/cvsbook.html, a *very* useful 
book!), and this has a section on doing this ('Commit Emails'). Gary 
might know how well this would work under the new bioinformatics.org 
structure.
