Summary:
drawtree, drawgram - no libXaw.so.7 on linux-x86_64
|
Original submission:
On linux-x86_64, running the PHYLIP drawtree or drawgram programs gives the following message:
drawtree: error while loading shared libraries: libXaw.so.7: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
This is probably an obsolete library in recent linux distributions. While we could add it to lib-linux-x86_64, I think the better solution is to recompile the binaries. I recall that this library is required only so that the programs can generate X11 bitmaps, which are probably not all that useful anyway. My recollection is that Phylip has an option for compiling without this feature.

Solution:
1. Added libXaw7.so, copied from /usr/lib or /usr/lib64, to lib-linux-intel or lib-linux-x86_64.
2. Modified drawgram.csh and drawtree.csh to add these libraries to the LD_LIBERARY_PATH before running drawgram
or drawtree binaries
